Science Festival for propagation of the Science

Science communication generally refers to public communication presenting science-related topics to non-experts. This often involves professional scientists but has also evolved into a professional field in its own right. It includes science exhibitions, journalism, and policy or media production.

To communicate science among the children it is necessary to make the topic interesting as well as make the involvement of the children in the programme. Vigyan Prasar take an initiative to develop interesting format for learn with fun of science through the science festival. Since 2007 vigyan parasr is organizing science festival for the children of 10-15 years of age group.

Initially programme was based on documentary with discussion. After that format was changed we worked on do yourself activity based science festival with resource material without reference book. Now Vigyan Prasar is providing resource material along with resource book to the children. These festivals are more interactive and useful for the children. They can rework on their activities.

Science festivals are the innovative method to introduce the scientific information for the children of various age groups. Through the science festival with the help of do yourself programme children can learn basic information about the science and technology as electronics, life science, health, as well as science writing.

With the help of these science festivals Vigyan Prasar caters more than five thousand children every year. Approximate 2000 children were participated in the science festival programme from the rural area of the country and 3000 children were participated in the live programme through EduSAT Network of Vigyan Prasar, they belongs to the urban area of various part of the country.

In the session creative science writing Vigyan Prasar received articles, stories, poetries from the children around the country.  These content is generated during the sessions by children. After the programme children discuss and ask their queries with the resource person and also these children give the training to other groups. And motivate to others to participate in the programme and share their scientific talent.

Except making the models we are trying to teach through the programme children to do their own efforts and make new models as well as ask their quires with the resource persons. Vigyan Prasar received overwhelming responses from the children for the programme. Every year Vigyan Prasar organizes one month science festival during May to June through the EduSAT network as well as five to seven science festivals at remote locations at the country.
